Greenwich Alternative Investments ("GAI") was the first to collect data and perform large-scale research on the broad universe of hedge funds. Started under the name Van Hedge Fund Advisors, GAI has one of the oldest and most extensive hedge fund databases in existence. For almost two decades, the Greenwich Database has been used internally to produce the Greenwich Hedge Fund Indices and research on the hedge fund industry for the institutional investment community.

Beginning in 2012 Greenwich opened it's database to third party, qualified investors providing them access to view, screen and pull potential investment information.
