Institutional money is fueling the growth of hedge fund investing, attracting some of the best talent from the traditional asset management community. The sheer number of funds available today gives investors more choice, but also highlights the challenges involved in selecting the managers best suited for the portolio.

The Greenwich Value™ Score
When selecting managers, we use the Greenwich Value™ score, a comprehensive statistical ranking that balances return, risk and strategy consistency metrics over multiple time periods to identify managers who are more likely to outpeform their strategy peers. Extensive testing of our model shows that more than half of the superior top-quartile managers selected using the Greenwich Value score remained in the top half the following year.
A strong Greenwich Value score does not always indicate a manager is appropriate for inclusion in a particular portfolio. Due diligence must then be performed, as these statistics can only be fully interpreted through a comprehensive qualitative assessment of the manager.
